Torque Converter Repair & Rebuild Services

Boss Hog Service & Rebuild Program

Don’t Replace It Until We’ve Looked At It

A torque converter problem does not always mean you need to start over with a new converter.

Boss Hog can inspect, evaluate, repair, rebuild, and—when appropriate—upgrade your existing torque converter based on its condition and your current vehicle combination.

Whether you’re dealing with a failed lockup, suspected internal damage, excessive heat, poor stall characteristics, contamination, or a converter that simply no longer matches your build, our team can help determine the right next step.

What Can We Help With?

Converter Inspection & Diagnosis

We’ll inspect your converter to help identify internal wear, damage, contamination, or other issues that may be affecting performance.

Torque Converter Rebuilding

When the converter is a good candidate for repair, we can rebuild it and replace worn or damaged components as necessary.

Stall Speed Changes

Changed your engine, camshaft, gearing, tire size, vehicle weight, or intended use? Your old converter may still be serviceable but no longer right for the combination. Depending on the converter, we may be able to modify its characteristics to better suit the vehicle.

Lockup Converter Repair

Problems with lockup operation can affect drivability, transmission temperature, cruising RPM, and overall performance. We can inspect applicable lockup converters and determine whether repair or rebuilding is practical.

Performance Upgrades

A repair can also be an opportunity to address the converter for a more demanding combination.

Tell us if you’ve added horsepower, changed the cam, installed a turbo or supercharger, added nitrous, changed gearing, or moved the converter into a different vehicle.

We want to know how you’re using it now, not just how it was originally built.

Something Changed? Tell Us.

The converter may not be the only thing that changed.

If your vehicle has received major modifications since the converter was originally purchased, let us know. Converter behavior can be affected by factors including:

  • Engine torque and horsepower
  • Camshaft
  • Turbocharger, supercharger, or nitrous
  • Transmission
  • Vehicle weight
  • Rear gear ratio
  • Tire diameter
  • Street, towing, strip, or race use
Repair or Update?

That information helps us determine whether your converter simply needs repair—or whether it should be updated while we have it apart.

Repair It—or Replace It?

We’ll Help You Make That Decision.

Not every torque converter should be rebuilt.

If repairing your converter does not make practical or economic sense, we’ll tell you. In some cases, a new converter designed around your current combination may be the better solution.

The goal isn’t simply to repair a part.

The goal is to get the right converter back in your vehicle.
