Answers to the questions we hear most often. Still not sure what you need? Our technical team is glad to help. Reach out any time.
What stall speed do I need?
The right stall speed depends on your vehicle's weight, engine and camshaft characteristics, rear gear ratio, tire size and how you use the vehicle. There is no single answer that fits every combination. Our technical team can recommend an appropriate stall speed for your setup.
Are Boss Hog torque converters made in the USA?
Yes. Every Boss Hog torque converter is built and assembled in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Can you build a custom torque converter?
Yes. We regularly build custom converters for turbocharged, supercharged, nitrous-assisted and dedicated racing applications, as well as LS swaps and other specialty builds. A custom converter is engineered around your exact combination rather than a generic catalog specification.
What information do you need to recommend a converter?
Typically we ask for engine size, camshaft specifications, vehicle weight, rear gear ratio, tire size, transmission type and intended use. The more detail you can share about your combination, the more accurate our recommendation.
Do you offer technical support?
Yes. Our team provides technical assistance before and after your purchase, including converter selection, compatibility, installation questions and troubleshooting.
What is the difference between the Night Stalker, Street Bandit and Out Law series?
Night Stalker converters are built for stock and mildly modified street vehicles where drivability matters most. Street Bandit converters suit performance street and street & strip builds with cammed engines. Out Law converters are designed for serious horsepower: racing, turbocharged and nitrous applications.
Do you rebuild torque converters?
Yes. Our rebuilding service includes complete inspection, internal component evaluation, replacement of worn components, rewelding, balancing and performance upgrades. If you are seeing excessive slippage, high transmission temperatures, poor acceleration or vibration, your converter may be a candidate for rebuilding.
